Cyberbu//ying
Stupid,
ugly, horrible, loser, good for nothing… the list could go on for horrible
words the bullies use to pick on someone. They could say a lot of mean or
hurtful words, especially at school or even on the internet. Yes, on the
computer! And that’s a huge problem called cyber-bullying!
"Cyber-bullying" is when a child,
preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or
otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet,
interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor
on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor.
Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyber-stalking.
Adult cyber-harassment or cyber-stalking is NEVER called cyber-bullying. If You
don’t believe me, and think that I’m just making this up, then go to, http://www.stopcyberbullying.org/what_is_cyberbullying_exactly.html for the exact definition.
Cyber-Bullying happens to everyone in the world.
Even I have been cyber-bullied before. About 42% of kids, teens, and sometimes
adults have been bullied online. And about 21% of them have received mean or
even threatening email messages. And about half of them commit suicide due to
all the pressure.
If Cyber-bullying ever comes across you then you
should do something about it. If someone sends you a horrible message then the
right thing to do, number one on the list is tell an adult. Tell someone you
trust like a parent or guardian, a teacher, the school counsuler, or even a
professional. They can help you a lot. Another thing you should do is report
them. How? Well when you go to a website like facebook, twitter, or youtube;
there is usually a report button on the top, middle, or even the bottom of the
page. Sometimes you have to look in the profile. Easy ways to stop them!
When you get bullied online, there are some
things you shouldn’t do. You should never write back! If you do then they will
keep on going and they wont stop. Okay, so if you don’t write back that doesn’t
mean just sit there and do nothing. If you don’t do anything while it’s
happening than they will continue. And the most common thing of all is suicide.
If you kill yourself then we know why you did it and it does give a huge
warning to never do that. But you don’t have to kill yourself. All you have to
do is do what I said before and nobody gets hurt!
Cyber-bullying is a huge problem around the
world’ Especially with teenagers. Don’t let that happen to you! Talk to your
child or friend about cyber-bullying; or even bullying in general. No one
deserves to feel the pain. And for all the bullies out there, be careful what
you say, write, or type. Because you can really hurt that person and make them
do bad things.
